RIEPPS - Research and innovation of educational practices in children's services

The European project RIEPPS – Research and Innovation in Educational Practices in Early Childhood Services (GA: 2023-1-IT02-KA122-SCH-000138116) aims to systematize job shadowing (a specific type of training in which one person closely follows and observes another while carrying out their work) as a best educational practice for all educational and school staff. The project focuses on the development of cultural exchanges, twinning initiatives and international mobility for educators, teachers, support staff, and pedagogical management and coordination figures.

Investing in the valorisation of internationalisation—both through the improvement of language skills of all involved profiles and through training in project design and management skills for coordination staff—aims to enhance the management of mobility projects in both incoming and outgoing phases. This is achieved by creating a working group capable of supporting staff of the 0–6 educational services during training experiences abroad and in the hosting of colleagues, while maintaining project coordination within educational services.

The project enables a flow of mobility for educators and teachers to two Swedish educational institutions, with the aim of innovating and implementing tools for the creation of inclusive educational environments. The process involves representatives of the 0–6 Services, who take part in the comparison and review of experiences before and after the job shadowing activities.

Expected results also concern the development and strengthening of the quality of educational and school provision, fostering the creation of inclusive services “tailored to every child.” The working group of the Municipality of Bologna has developed skills related to the research and definition of innovative practices for the creation of inclusive learning environments, starting from several cross-cutting focus areas: the organisation of spaces, materials and time, the role of adults, the organisational model, teaching proposals, and the communication and documentation of learning processes.
