REALLOCATE: building more inclusive cities through data

On 6 November 2025, as part of the Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress and the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the session “Gender-sensitive data for urban planning” will take place.

Organised by Eurocities and included in the REALLOCATE project programme, the initiative aims to address a crucial challenge: urban data — including those related to mobility and public spaces — are often collected and analysed without taking gender differences and accessibility into account. This can lead to urban solutions that do not fully meet the needs of all citizens.

During the session, the City of Bologna and the IU Rusconi Ghigi Foundation will present the Bologna case study. As a partner city of the project, Bologna is developing a pilot experiment in the school area around Parco Grosso, with the goal of increasing active mobility. The project includes the creation of a collaborative laboratory to develop a safe and sustainable school district along the “Percorso della Conoscenza”, involving the areas of Via Erbosa, Via Gobetti, Via Cristoforo da Bologna and Via Manin, in the Navile District.

The project foresees the transformation of the district’s public space to promote sustainable, safe and independent daily home–school mobility, in collaboration with the school, students and local stakeholders.

The Percorso della Conoscenza is a cycling and walking route that will link cultural, educational and civic hubs: a recognisable path dedicated to soft and smart mobility, crossing the north-western area of the historic centre and connecting to sustainable infrastructure, new urban developments, public spaces, green areas and schools.

The event will bring together experts, public administrations and European partners to share good practices and strategies for building cities that are smarter, fairer and more accessible. It will represent an opportunity to exchange knowledge and approaches for advancing more intelligent, just and accessible urban environments.
