European Mobility Week 2025: Bologna takes the spotlight with SPINE

From September 16 to 22, Bologna will celebrate the European Mobility Week with a rich program of events dedicated to sustainability, accessibility, and inclusive mobility. The theme chosen by the European Commission for this year is “Mobility for Everyone”, an invitation to build cities that are welcoming to all, regardless of age, ability, or socio-economic status.

Between conferences, group bike rides, workshops, and artistic performances, the event will culminate on Sunday, September 21, with the Mobility Village at Parco della Montagnola, where institutions, associations, and companies will present projects and services for increasingly sustainable mobility.

As part of the initiative, activities will be held to promote the European project SPINE (Smart Public transport Initiatives for climate-Neutral cities in Europe), which in Bologna is developing innovative solutions for urban mobility:

· Musical performance “Traveling Sweetly” (September 21, Dynamo Bike Station): a journey through songs and stories reflecting on the symbolic and social value of travel and means of transport, with the participation of the Department of the Arts of the University of Bologna.

· Exhibition on SPINE Mobility Hubs (FILLA Auditorium, September 18–22): a showcase of projects born from co-creation workshops with citizens and associations, illustrating the path from initial ideas to ongoing works in the three new hubs of Casteldebole, Corticella, and Mazzini.

· Mobility Village: at the City of Bologna’s stand, visitors will find information on the Mobility Centers developed thanks to SPINE—interchange spaces connecting rail, bus, cycling, and walking, equipped with inclusive digital panels and electric charging infrastructure.

Complementing these initiatives, dedicated informational materials will be distributed, and citizens’ feedback will be gathered through digital questionnaires to assess satisfaction levels and expectations regarding ongoing urban transformations.

The complete program of the initiative is available in the attachment.
